November 14, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel. (VSNAP) Meeting 6-9pm on Thursday 11/14 at Vernon Elementary SchoolAgenda (emailed to the public on 11/12): A status report on the reactor, and Entergy VP Mike Twomey will make a closure presentation, (including steps involved in plant closing; study schedule; NRC de-licensing process). Public is invited to comment after every agenda item.

You can make a difference. Safe & Green members attended the October meeting. The first agenda item was a review of VSNAP’s 2012 Annual Report. We commented that despite the eventful year with important presentations to the panel in 2012 about thermal pollution and Entergy finances, VSNAP only made one recommendation: to add an additional member to the panel. We hope the panel will be more active this year and will use its role as advisors to the State. Our remarks were taken seriously and were referred to by three panel members.  They then proposed VSNAP make a recommendation that Yankee be decommissioned promptly and funding made available to return to greenfield status, tabled a vote to run the language by lawyers, called an ad hoc meeting for two weeks, and passed the recommendation at that time.
