Deb Katz Speaking in Amherst

November 15, 2013 @ 7:00 pm

From Amherst Old Reliables Affinity Group:

WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VERMONT YANKEE’S CLOSING?

DEB KATZ, Executive Director of the Citizens Awareness Network (CAN) will speak at the First Congregational Church at 165 Main Street in Amherst on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15th at 7:00 pm.

With Entergy’s announcement in August that Vermont Yankee will close in 14 months, issues of a just transition and a reliable and responsible decommissioning of the reactor need examination and understanding.  Vermont Yankee’s closure is a win for the people, the state of Vermont and democracy.  However, the work is not done. We must remain engaged and demand continued legislative action to support stricter decommissioning and operational standards and a successful transition to sustainable energy.

Come learn more about the current status of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant in Vernon, VT and the nuclear power plant decommissioning.  The event is sponsored by the Old Reliables Affinity Group and the First Congregational Earth Ministry Team.  Free and open to the public.
