Declaring Our Independence from Entergy

July has begun with a declaration of independence. 300 citizens from New England created a powerful procession in Vernon on Sunday, entered the Vermont Yankee gates, and delivered a gift to Entergy: a vision of a nuclear free future, powered by the sun, from the belly of a cow. 40 crossed the trespass line to the sound of three ram’s horns and were arrested to the witnesses singing “we’re going to bring our power home, down by the riverside.” You can read the Brattleboro Reformer’s article here, which has reflections from law enforcement and activists. Dan Keller created a video here with highlights of the day.

On July 4th, we marched alongside the cow with Nuclear Free Vermont in the Brattleboro town parade, chanting “Moooooovvvveeee on, nuclear!”

You can view pictures of how the cow was created, and more photos from July 1st and July 4th, on our Facebook page (even if you are not a Facebook member).
