Fukuhima Anniversary | Safe and Green Campaign

March 21: Mark the last day Vermont Yankee is legally operating in the State of Vermont with the Peace Pagoda walkers from our sister reactors. They arrive around noon at Vermont Yankee. At 4pm, there is a vigil at the Vermont Statehouse in Montpelier, followed by a “Retirement Party“ at 5pm in Room 10 of the Statehouse. March 22: Entergy: Your Time is Up! Join us for a rally, march and demonstration at Entergy Headquarters, to mark the first day Vermont Yankee is operating against the will of the people. We view the continued operation of Vermont Yankee today as an insult to democracy, the people of Vermont and surrounding regions, and to the Earth. The day will begin with a brief rally at Brattleboro Commons at 11:00 am, followed by a 3.5 mile walk up Rt. 5 (Putney Road) to Entergy Corporation’s Headquarters on Old Ferry Road. At that point there will be a nonviolent direct action where affinity groups trained in non-violence will “Occupy Entergy” for the day, crossing onto Entergy’s property. Supporters will encourage those risking arrest from across the road on an acre of land we have been given permission to use for support services. The day will include music, large puppetry, theater, creative costumes & messages for Entergy demanding that Vermont Yankee nuclear reactor be shut down. All participants in the nonviolent direct action are required to receive training in nonviolence and have previously joined an affinity group. Click here for a list of FAQ
