Step it Up Walk

On January 2nd, 2010, 70 people departed from downtown Brattleboro, VT in route to the VT Statehouse. The day before, citizens from MA marched from Gill, MA to the Vermont Yankee reactor in Vernon, VT and on to Brattelboro. On January 13, over 200 people arrived at the VT Statehouse to deliver a message: The people say it is time to close Vermont Yankee.

Read, watch and remember the “Step It Up To Shut It Down” walk. Below you will find videos, slideshows, photos and our online journal that captured this historic feat. If you feel inspired, go to our Action Center and take action. Thank you to all those that walked and the tremendous support we received along the way. The People have spoken.

"Frankly, those of us living in the shadow of Entergy Vermont Yankee have grown weary of the toxic burden it has placed on our communities. It's time to rid ourselves of the Entergy liability and move towards local, efficient and renewable methods of power production. That time is certainly now."
